Ergonomics

Ergonomics is the process of designing or arranging workspaces, products, or systems so that they physically fit the people that use them. Ergonomics play an important role in the safety and well-being of employees. Proper ergonomic set-up and the design of workspaces can help minimize the risk of a wide range of injuries or discomfort.

Many potential injuries can be avoided by making a few simple changes to the set-up of a workspace. The VIU Ergonomics program includes responsibilities, risk assessment, mitigation, controls and resources to assist employees to reduce workplace musculoskeletal injuries. If you are experiencing pain or discomfort when working at your workstation, please use the Safety Portal to report your concern.
