Parking Changes to accommodate construction - 2017

As mentioned in the email sent on December 6, 2016 to the VIU community, the federal and provincial governments, and our community partners, have made a significant investment in the future of VIU by funding a number of new projects on the Nanaimo campus.

In order to accommodate the construction needs around these exciting new projects, the University will be making necessary changes to some parking areas. Careful consideration has been taken to minimize the impact on our community while still allowing for the construction of these new facilities to take place.

Starting in January 2017 the following changes will be in effect (please see attached map for more details):

1.    Beginning January 1, 2017: Temporary general parking spaces will be opened off of Fourth Street in front of VIU Residence Building No 2.

2.    Beginning January 21, 2017: The short-term parking in Lot D will be closed; some of the parking spaces in Lots F and C will be converted to short-term parking.

3.  Beginning March 4, 2017: The general parking spaces near Buildings 105, 178 and 100 will be closed.

Access for programs in buildings will be maintained through the construction zones until buildings being replaced are closed.
