Jennifer Christoffersen (Shade) is a descendant from the Laich kwil Tach Nation and a proud member of the Wei Wai Kum Band. She completed the First Nations Child and Youth Care Diploma, and has a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care degree from VIU. She went on to obtain a Masters of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, specializing in Indigenous Governance, Law and Sociology from UVic. She is married, with one son and has worked at Vancouver Island University since 1998. Gilakas'la.
Dale Hunt

Gilakas’la Snuneymuxw!! Dale Hunt is a member of the Kwakiutl First Nation located on the northern tip of Vancouver Island. Otherwise known as the village of Tsa’xis. He is a descendant of the Kwakwaka’wakw and Wuixinuxw Nations. Even though he lives in the city, he has strong cultural connections deeply rooted in community values and beliefs. He has a BA in First Nations Studies from VIU (then Malaspina University-College 2002) and an MA in Dispute Resolution from UVic (2005). He has two children and has been with Vancouver Island University (VIU) for 15 years. Dale hopes to provide direct culturally safe support to the Indigenous students and their educational journey at VIU while connecting to the decolonizing and reconciliation efforts at Vancouver Island University.
