How long will the project take?
The initial implementation phase of the project is expected to be completed by late 2019. This is a target; however, and it's not until we get the implementation underway when we will have a better idea. Currently, we are planning on rolling out the three subsystems at different times. For more information, see Section 6.1 of the Project and Change Charter.
What is Project AURORA?
To ensure that VIU remains competitive in the marketplace while continuing to grow and evolve as an institution, Project AURORA (an acronym for A Unified Renewal of Related Applications) has been launched to review and upgrade the core software systems and business processes of the University. The ultimate objective is to better align the systems and business processes of Domestic and International Student Services, the Office of the Registrar, Human Resources, Finance, and other related areas.
Which systems are being replaced?
The following core systems at VIU are being replaced:
- Student Record System (SRS)
- Finance Resource System (FRS)
- StarGarden (Human Resources and Payroll)
More details about the scope of systems being replaced will be available as the project progresses.
