First Aid

For all medical emergencies call 911

First aid services on the Nanaimo and Cowichan campuses are provided by patrolling campus security guards.

First aid services for all other VIU campuses and worksites are provided by VIU employees that have occupational first aid training.

The VIU first aid attendant submits records through the online First aid report.

VIU has Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and naloxone kits available in many buildings on campus. The kits can be used by anyone in an emergency.

Also, VIU security guards and Community Leaders in student housing all carry Naloxone kits and have training in administering Naloxone.
