All VIU departmental meetings must follow the current BC Restart Step 3 guidelines for Indoor organized gatherings:
Indoor organized gatherings 50 people or 50% capacity, whichever is greater
- Book the meeting room following the normal VIU room booking process
Events and Gatherings:
VIU is following the BC Restart Plan, 2021 to guide the re-opening of organized events in a safe manner
- Indoor organized gatherings 50 people or 50% capacity, whichever is greater
- Outdoor organized gatherings 5,000 people or 50% capacity, whichever is greater
- Fairs, festivals and trade shows return to normal with a communicable disease plan
The maximum allowable number (occupancy limit) must not be exceeded at any time.
This EVENT DECISION TREE has been created to help you better understand the process for hosting gatherings and events at VIU.
VIU INTERNAL EVENTS
Events that are core to the academic learning functions of the university no longer require university approval to proceed provided the above conditions are met.
EXTERNAL EVENT REQUESTS
All non-VIU event hosts or businesses wishing to use a VIU facility or outdoor location must receive approval from VIU first.
