The Compressed Gas Safety program provides guidance for the safe handling, use, storage and transport of compressed gas cylinders at VIU. Compressed gases present a range of hazards, including high pressure, flammability, toxicity and asphyxiation, and must be managed with appropriate controls.

This program outlines roles and responsibilities, hazard identification and required control measures to reduce risk and ensure regulatory compliance. Supporting Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) are provided for the use and transport of compressed gas cylinders, offering practical direction for day-to-day activities.
